Today my sweet neighbor came to visit. She brought coliva she made herself, along with wine and lit candles.
In Orthodox tradition, coliva is a dessert made from boiled wheat mixed with sugar, nuts or cocoa, and decorated beautifully on top. Prepared in memory of loved ones who passed away, it’s brought to church, blessed, and then shared with others.
I always receive it with gratitude from this nice lady. Not just for the food, but for the kindness behind it.
Moments like this remind me how beautiful community can be. 🕯️✨
