I don’t know if this has ever happened to you, but last night I reached a point where I was tired of my own excuses.

Things are a bit messy in my life these days, for good reason. I am the only person doing a lot of things, and that requires a huge organizational effort that I haven’t been able to fully manage, as my son and my work took priority lately. I do understand how I got here. I am just tired of all my excuses, even if I have really good excuses.

So, I decided to just start doing things, and one of those things is exercise.

I had that on my list for more than a month, but because I failed to create the perfect organization system, I failed to start because I didn’t have the perfect environment. And what I did last night was say to myself: “Stop it! Stop making excuses! Stop carrying this weight of failure day after day! Just start!”

I had a well-prepared list of exercises I wanted to start with. But what I did instead was identify an issue I wanted to tackle: upper back pain. I just went on YouTube and searched for yoga standing exercises for upper back pain, as my circumstances at the time only allowed me to do standing exercises, and I was in the mood for yoga.

I picked one of the first results in my search: “5 min Standing Yoga Stretch For SHOULDERS & BACK | Yoga without mat | Office Yoga Break” and guess what?

I JUST DID IT!

No perfect context, no unnecessary overthinking, no excuses. I just did those exercises for 5 minutes, and it felt great! I immediately felt an improvement in my upper back, and the tension was released!

Once this round was done, I continued scrolling through the search results and found another one: “Get Rid of Back & Neck Pain✨ 8 Min Upper Body Stretching | Good Posture, Pain Relief.”

And I did those exercises, too. It felt amazing, and I loved this channel, MIZI, so I immediately looked through their video gallery and decided to subscribe.

After I finished this video, I got another one from MIZI in my recommendations. This time, I had the possibility to lie down, so I started this one, too. I only did 7 minutes of it, as I needed to tend to my son.

But hey, it’s 7 minutes of exercise that I did!

20 minutes of exercise in total by 5 AM this morning, just because I stopped listening to my own excuses and decided to spend my time in a more productive way!

My upper back feels much better, my mood is way better, and I feel more confident because I did something for myself and turned an excuse into action.

I wanted to share all these exercises with you, hoping that my journey will inspire you. It’s messy, it’s not well organized or well planned, but it is more than doing nothing and finding reasons for it.

I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or not, but I started this journey on October 1st. Maybe my brain decided that the first of the month is a good time to make a change. Maybe it’s just a random Thursday when my glass finally filled up and I said, “Enough.”

But I am happy about this small change, and I am excited to continue. So, stay tuned for more updates!
