We needed a way to organize and manage different aspects of our daily lives effectively, so we designed these project pages – and now we’re sharing them with you! They’re simple, flexible, and can help you stay on track with your goals.
Page 1: Overview and Daily Progress
The first page is all about setting up your project and tracking your achievements at a glance. You can title your project and plan for consistent progress. For example, we are starting a Home Decluttering project.
- Flexible Start Date: The undated calendar lets you begin whenever you’re ready—no need to wait for the beginning of the week or month. All you need is to get started and stay consistent for 30 days or more. Our project started on 12/20/24 and runs until 1/18/25, but if we need extra time, we’ll simply print another page to continue.
- Daily Targets: Set a realistic goal, like one task per day, or time commitment each day. We believe consistent daily effort, even just a few minutes, can transform overwhelming projects into manageable steps and bring you closer to your goal. For our decluttering project, we’re dedicating 1 hour/day.
- Rewards: The biggest reward is achieving your goal, whether it’s launching a product, decluttering your home, improving your business, or something else.
To make the project and reward more fun and motivating, consider using a points system:
- Assign points for each task and once completed, convert the points into a small monetary reward that you set aside at the end of each day. At the end of your project, use the reward savings for project-related improvements (or treats!). For example, we allocate $0.20 for every 10 points and at the end of the project we will use the reward savings for home improvements.
- Ensure the reward fits your budget. The reward is coming from your own pocket, an amount of money that you can spare every day, that you can easily save from other expenses without putting a hole in your budget, so be mindful when you set the points value and be consistent in setting that money aside at the end of each day.
- Ensure the reward feels meaningful – it’s a great way to celebrate your hard work!
Page 2: Planning and Prioritizing
This page helps you plan the finer details:
- Customizable Planner: Add dates to align with your project’s start point.
- Urgent Tasks: List critical to-dos with deadlines. For our decluttering project, we prioritized sorting and donating / selling winter items by mid-January and we also marked this on our planner calendar.
- Project Details: Use this section to outline key information or special considerations.
Page 3: Task Breakdown
Page 3 focuses on breaking your project into actionable steps:
- Write down all the tasks and activities required to achieve your goal.
- Start with the essentials and add more as your project progresses.
- Check off completed tasks and keep building momentum!
If you run out of space, just print additional pages as needed.
Page 4: Notes and Ideas
The final page is a space to capture thoughts, ideas, or plans that come up along the way but aren’t immediate tasks. During our decluttering project, for instance, we jotted down future projects like:
- Use the reward funds to upgrade our kitchen furniture, because the kitchen is the room most in need of improvements.
- Start a digitizing paperwork separate project, as it is time consuming and I don’t want to distract me from the current project
- Start a deep-cleaning project after decluttering our home.
