There are few things that say summer quite like a fresh, juicy watermelon. Every year, as soon as watermelon season arrives, I find myself doing the exact same thing.
Instead of leaving the whole watermelon in the fridge, I slice it, cut it into bite-sized cubes, and divide it into small containers. It takes a few extra minutes, but it makes enjoying watermelon so much easier throughout the week.
Why I Always Cube My Watermelon
Having ready-to-eat watermelon means I can grab a healthy snack whenever I want. There’s no need to wash a cutting board or pull out a large knife every time I feel like eating some fruit.
It’s also much easier for:
- Quick afternoon snacks
- Family movie nights
- Packing fruit for lunch
- Staying hydrated during hot summer days
A Simple Summer Routine
Watermelon is naturally refreshing and one of my favorite summer fruits. Preparing it all at once saves time later and helps reduce food waste because it’s always visible and ready to eat.
Once the containers are in the refrigerator, they rarely stay there for long!
Tips for Preparing Watermelon
- Wash the outside of the watermelon before cutting it.
- Use a large, sharp knife for easier slicing.
- Cut into bite-sized cubes for convenient snacking.
- Store the cubes in airtight containers.
- Keep refrigerated and enjoy within a few days for the best taste and texture.
Do You Prepare Watermelon Like This?
Everyone seems to have their own way of enjoying watermelon. Some people prefer eating it straight from the slices, while others love having containers of ready-to-eat cubes waiting in the fridge.
